Himalayan Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (HJSSH) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary academic journal published by the Society for Himalayan Action Research and Development (SHARAD), Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India.
Established in 2006, the journal publishes original research papers, review articles, and scholarly essays in the fields of social sciences, humanities, and interdisciplinary studies. It aims to foster academic dialogue and contribute to the understanding of the Himalayan region and related contexts.
The journal was previously listed in the University Grants Commission (UGC) journal list until May 2018 (SN: 2405, Journal Number: 45924). It continues to maintain rigorous peer-review standards and is committed to promoting high-quality research in the Himalayan region and beyond

The Himalayan Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (HJSSH) ISSN: P-ISSN: 0975-9891 aims to promote high-quality research and foster intellectual discourse across various disciplines of the social sciences and humanities. The journal welcomes scholarly contributions that advance theoretical understanding, policy relevance, and practical insights.
HJSSH encourages interdisciplinary and comparative research that examines the relationship between individuals, society, and environment, with special reference to the Himalayan and other mountain regions. The journal also invites studies that highlight social transformation, cultural heritage, education, governance, and sustainable development.
The journal is published annually (One issues per year) and accepts manuscripts on a rolling basis. Both print (p-ISSN: 0975-9891) and online versions are maintained.
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process. The editorial board consists of distinguished scholars from various disciplines who ensure the quality, originality, and relevance of published works.
